I generally like my team and everyone is very friendly and open to help. Since my particular team had people in at least 3 other locations, we used Zoom a lot for meetings or when there was a need for more synchronous communication. I do not work directly with our customers, but everyone seems to be all about working for the customers (aka students) so a lot of people seem to really care about their work. You as an employee can totally opt out of any of that by not participating, so it is hard to parse what the culture is really like. The company as a whole tries to have events and contests in slack and the leadership has weekly town hall meetings to keep everyone in the loop. There are some talks about returning to the office with an expectation that we will be returning in a hybrid mode sometime in the fall 2021. As far as remote work goes, it seemed like Cengage adapted very quickly and efficiently to remote work, with much of communications done in slack or if we had to have meetings, zoom was used very liberally. It is very reminiscent of a typical coworking space. Most of my work experience at Cengage is during the pandemic so I am not able to accurately describe how it was on-site other than the office is new and nice looking for the few days I was there.
